This course is required for HEW 9 and 10 and above Professional Staff Managers, Academics who direct and oversee staff groups and/or organisational units (eg Executive Deans, Directors and Deputy Directors of Centres/Institutes, Heads of School).
Note: Previous course title - OHS for Senior Managers. HEW 8 and below managers should refer to the OHS for Supervisors and Managers training course.
The aim of this course is to provide Senior Managers with the knowledge and strategies necessary to enhance the UQ safety culture, meet their obligations under the UQ OHS Policy regarding demonstrating their commitment to the health and safety of their staff and students, as well as their obligations under the Work Health and Safety Act, and the UQ PPL 2.10.04 Staff Responsibilities for Occupational Health and Safety.
This course will cover senior management obligations with respect to health, safety and wellness. There is an emphasis on what they need to know and what they need to do in order to meet their obligations. The course also focuses on their role as safety leaders and role models so that they can improve UQ's safety culture and implement UQ's Health, Safety and Wellness Strategy 2017-2021.
