The Early-Career Academic Development Program is designed to complement your highly developed technical skills, by helping you to develop the career planning and related interpersonal skills necessary to transition from being a leading academic to being an academic leader. The program is experiential in nature, meaning you not only gain knowledge, but also learn through doing and reflecting.
The program targets Level A or B staff, in approximately their first five years of employment following PhD completion. This stream of the program is for Teaching & Research/Research-focussed/Teaching-focussed/Clinical academic staff.
Entry to the program is by Expression of Interest. Click on the 'register' button to access the EOI form. Please scan and email your completed form to email@example.com by the closing date 3rd August 2021. Please complete all details on the expression of interest form including tick boxes and signatures. Incomplete expression of interest applications may be rejected.
This course will enable participants to:
- Clarify their career direction and goals
- Build essential leadership skills
- Think strategically about their individual priorities and how these fit a broader strategic
- Learn from the experiences of academics at a variety of levels from across UQ
- Build a network of colleagues from across the University and discipline areas
- Develop and refine important team skills such as negotiating, influencing, and giving
and receiving feedback.
