Presenter: Miss Jordan Tredinnick
This course is a network meeting for official UQ Allies. All UQ Allies have completed the Ally Workshop and have been invited to take on the Ally role of providing a safe, inclusive and confidential environment for LGBTIQ staff & students or others seeking information.
The course provides an opportunity for UQ Allies to share their experience, provide feedback and to keep them up to date with relevant policy, legislative and community information. The presence of an Ally is indicated by an 'Ally' sign in the work area. Their visible presence assists in combating heterosexism, homophobia & transphobia.
This course will enable participants to:
1. reflect on their role as an Ally and identify areas of improvement
2. exchange experiences with other Allies and learn from each other
3. keep up to date with policy, legislative and community information relevant to sexuality and gender diversity issues and
4. contribute to an action plan developed by the network.
