This course is a requirement for all new HDR advisors, new principal HDR advisors and advisors who are new to UQ.
It provides a broad grounding in UQ’s HDR policies, procedures and processes as they relate to scholarships, candidature progression and examinations, as well as advisor’s obligations under those policies. It also highlights the changing approaches to HDR training within the sector and contemporary expectations of HDR graduates, and provides insights in to how UQ is responding to this evolving landscape.
The session will also address the question of expectations of advisors and candidates, and advise best practice in management of advisor-student interactions. It will highlight the range of support that the University provides for all parties.
