Emergency Procedures for Hazardous Materials

Hazardous materials emergency situations and spills can occur at any time. Be prepared by having correct spill kits that are placed in appropriate locations, and be informed on what to do in an emergency situation.
This session will provide information on the correct procedures to follow for spills and other emergency situations that may arise when working with hazardous materials, particularly chemicals, and infectious and contaminated substances.
This course will enable participants to:
1. gain an understanding of the range and type of spill kits available
2. gain an understanding of the University's procedures for emergency situations,
particularly for hazardous material
3. Understand how to deal with chemical and biological spills including containment,
clean-up and disposal.
