The course workshops runs over 7 non-consecutive days and includes 3 one hour 'practice' labs on non-consecutive days.

Research overwhelming shows that mindful leadership offers an excellent opportunity to raise the bar on current leadership development programs by increasing cognitive and emotional intelligence beyond other forms of leadership training. Daily practice of mindful leadership offers you an opportunity to become a highly effective leader. The Mindful Leadership Program aligns with the UQ Strategic Plan (2018-2021) and the three pillars of learning, discovery and engagement by providing leaders with the opportunity for growth and encouraging a workplace environment that supports reflective practice of leadership capabilities. The program aims to develop resilient, valuable and innovative leaders with a focus on enhanced performance. This will be achieved through more effective decision-making and communication, greater creativity and more innovative thinking, leading change and further enhanced engagement with colleagues and key stakeholders. The program aligns with the UQ Leadership Capability Framework and is designed to encourage leaders to explore how they enact these leadership capabilities and demonstrate their leadership on both a formal and informal level at UQ. Ideally, the participant will be HEW7 (equivalent) and above.

This course will enable participants to: 

1. Gain greater focus and clarity in executive decision-making, 
2. Become more agile and cognitively flexible in thinking, 
3. Develop skills of self-observation and engage in reflective practice, 
4. Develop and incorporating empathy and compassion in their leadership, and 
5. Ability to adapt and lead change more effectively and become more resilient and creative 
   (specifically in leadership capabilities).

This course will run over 7 non-consecutive dates a combination of Zoom and Face to Face training on the dates and times listed below.  You are required to complete & sign an expression of interest application as per below:

Closing date for expression of interest applications 27 April 2021.


APPLICATION PROCESS: Applications for these programs are invited through an expression of interest (EOI) processClick on the 'register' button to access the EOI form.

You will need to discuss your interest with your supervisor, who must endorse your application. Please scan and email your completed form to staffdev@uq.edu.au by the 27 April 2021. When all applications have been assessed the course coordinator will advise if your EOI has been successful.

Please complete all details on the expression of interest form including tick boxes and signatures.  Incomplete expression of interest applications may be rejected.   

Please note: Acceptance into the course will be influenced by the quality of your responses to the EOI. Unfortunately due to the expected high calibre of applications, some high-quality applicants may be unsuccessful but are encouraged to reapply in the future.
